Duration: 12 month contract
Location: Charlotte, NC
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Accounting Analyst for one of our clients in the Charlotte area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Job Description:
  • The Accounting Analyst's role primary responsibilities will be reconciliation of general ledger accounts and bank reconciliation's of payroll tax, associated payroll accounts and benefit plans accounts
  • This also includes account analysis related to Corporate Payroll system
  • Assist with implementation assignments to team members and validation of accuracy prior to the first pay run production
  • The Accounting Analyst creates or updates SOP's as needed for existing or new processes
  • This role is includes active participation in System Integration, User Acceptance and Parallel Testing
  • The successful candidate must possess an overall understanding of Payroll and Post Payroll process flows

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts comparing the payroll activity against the general ledger
  • Identify the need for reconciliation improvements and offer suggestions to facilitate the same
  • Prepare bank reconciliations from comparison of payroll data vs. banking data leading to recognition of adjustments/actions needed to clear reconciling items
  • Reconcile funding activity at company and employee level to verify proper third party payments
  • Review Payroll to General Ledger interface error reports and defensive queries identifying proper reclassifications for payroll entries
  • Understanding of journal voucher preparation and their effect to the general ledger
  • Understanding of payroll cycle/calendar and data correction in relation to the general ledger
  • Research and Resolution of reconciling items
  • Recognize the need to facilitate feedback to other sub-domains to minimize errors that cause reconciling items
  • Run reports for analytical research through navigation of payroll and general ledger and banking systems
  • Create analytical reports in payroll, banking and general ledger systems for analytical research
  • Ability to assess relevance of data in analysis of payroll situations
  • Coordination and summarization of pertinent data to support research conclusions
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of payroll transactions and the proper accounting treatment
  • Provide payroll accounting related problem (SR) resolution support and take appropriate steps to close the case
  • Assist client manager with complex payroll issues with minimal interaction with Subject Matter Experts
  • Metric reporting as defined by leadership and client
  • Assist in development and implementation of processes and data integrity tools
  • Understanding of the impact of how accounting needs affect other sub-domains offering solutions to maintain accountability with each other
  • Provide support to Client Manager
  • Interface with client

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • 1 - 3 years of finance experience working in a financial analyst, staff accountant, tax accountant or audit role
  • Strong business acumen, e.g. ability to interpret and apply financial data/information to business decisions
  • Proficient in applying GAAP, accounting policies, processes, procedures and controls and/or domestic tax code/law
  • Payroll experience is preferred
  • Accounting experience is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Detail-oriented, organized and capable of prioritizing workload to complete multiple tasks and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • PeopleSoft knowledge is a plus
