Cloud Technical Architect
 
Duration: 6 month contract
Location: Vernon Hills, IL
 
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Cloud Technical Architect for one of our clients in the Vernon Hills area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Engagement Methodology and the Operations Framework define the standards to deliver projects and managed services that will delight our customers
  • Here are the roles that Technical Architects play in the Methodology and Framework: 
  • Product Definition - collaborate with Product/Service Development Managers and solution sales teams to identify and validate new Advanced Technology service solution opportunities, build standard operating procedures for solution implementation and support, help to validate economic viability of solutions and to help to build customer value propositions
  • Lead in development of cost and pricing models for business development teams 
  • Sales- provide deep and broad technical support to Solutions Specialists, review system designs and participate in bid assurance, as required by customers
  • Assist sales and business development team with creation of solutions as we migrate our customers to the new design
  • Planning - participate in kickoff meetings, build solution implementation roadmaps, collaborate with Project Manager and Managing Consultant or Senior Engineer to ensure successful execution of project plans, as required by customers 
  • Design - create and / or evaluate technical designs for customer systems, develop test plans, build proof of concepts and participate in design reviews to ensure alignment with customer’s business requirements 
  • Implementation - lead first-to-market advanced technology pilots and engagements to help establish us as the first-choice provider of Advanced Technology solutions, conduct technology envisioning sessions, perform technology readiness assessments, health checks, and project milestone reviews and deliver technical training as required by customers
  • Technical Architects may also be called upon to resolve mission critical customer issues 
  • Closure - participate in post-project debrief sessions, archive intellectual property and transfer knowledge to Engineers and Managed Services and Practice teams 
  • Operations - take practice business plans and create technical roadmaps and strategies for implementation and operations, drive updates to our Operations Framework and establish cross-technology designs and plans. Creation of tools is also part of the role
  • Responsibilities would include developing reference architecture for Product Development of advanced AWS Services 
  • Development of the Roadmap necessary to acquire new customers and gain wallet of existing customer 
  • Ability to lead Engineering resources in development, support, automation, and technical enablement 
  • Provide Sales engagement and business development support as a technical SME 
  • Assist Product manager with building business cases and charters for new offerings 
  • Provide market and competitive analysis of the market place relative to our offerings strategy 
  • Evaluate partner product and services relative to our current offerings and market capabilities 

 
Accountability - Technical Architects are ultimately accountable for: 
  • Billing work on projects, individually and through our Engineers 
  • Working with product management to manage profitable hybrid DC solution offerings
  • Developing and implementing intellectual property, for the benefit of other Engineers 
  • Significant involvement in and leadership of managed/hosted/shared network designs and plans 

 
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in business, computer science, a related technical degree or equivalent 
  • Seven to ten years of large - scale, enterprise - class planning, design, implementation and support experience 
  • At least five years of experience in developing complex Cloud Solutions on AWS 
  • Professional level Certifications in AWS Associate Solutions Architect

 
Other Required Qualifications:
  • In depth knowledge of hybrid data center managed services, including compute, storage, and network and IaaS models
  • Skilled at design, architecture, and technical leadership for cloud migrations 
  • Deep Understanding of hypercloud providers including Azure and AWS is required 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Collaboration skills are particularly important for this role
  • Professional level Certification in AWS Professional solutions Architect 

 
 
Other Required for Managed Service Customer Care:
  • Ability to interact with inside and outside IT services infrastructure
  • General knowledge of applications management processes and methodologies
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow through with tasks, projects, troubleshooting with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding oral, written, technical and business communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment

 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project oversight responsibilities, management and technical leadership 
  • Familiarity with ScienceLogic monitoring tools 
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM system 
  • Familiarity with Public Cloud management tools (i.e. CloudHealth/CLOUDYN)
