Excel Access Developer
 
Duration: 6 month contract
Location: Oak Brook, IL
 
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Excel Access Developer for one of our clients in the Oak Brook area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
 
 
 
Job Description:
  • There is a contract-to-hire position in the Global Financial Systems team providing business-side support of Excel and MS Access-based tools (X-Apps)
  • This position is responsible for developing Excel-based reports and tools, ad-hoc requests and reporting used by the Finance organization
  • Develop and automate end-user Excel applications and reports using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Use SQL Server and other data sources to collect and stage data for tools
  • Support the Finance team by rapidly developing business-specific reporting and tools
  • Partner with the business to make enhancements to existing tools and reports
  • Interact with the customers to understand business requirements
  • Candidate is expected to understand projects from both the business and technical perspectives
  • Should be able to work well independently to rapidly build reporting solutions for business customers
  • Also be a go getter and exhibit strong communication skills
  • A Typical Day-In-The-Life:
  • Meet with business users to gather and understand user requirements, and translate into new tools/reports
  • Develop new Excel-based reports and tools based on user requests
  • Understand data sources and how to create calculations for new tools
  • Modify existing reports and tools as required by users
  • Write ad-hoc queries and reports as needed to support user departments
  • Utilize the functionality delivered with SQLServer, including stored procedures and job scheduling

 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Rapid development of business-based tools and reports as requested by users
  • Develop new Excel-based reports using SQL and VBA automation
  • Develop and support limited number of MS Access-based tools
  • Write new SQL queries to gather/summarize data
  • Create SQLServer stored procedures to stage data for Excel tools
  • Modify existing Excel tools/reports
  • Other systems support and projects as needed
  • Ability to express ideas effectively, verbally and in writing

 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, or Finance required
  • 2-5 years of hands-on Excel and VBA experience
  • Experience working with business areas and other non-technical groups, translating requests into requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience with Oracle BI tools/Hyperion a plus 
  • Additional Skills: Excel, VBA, MS Access, SQLServer
