Network Engineer
Duration: 12 month contract
Location: Baltimore, MD
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Network Engineer for one of our clients in the Kennett Square area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
  • Ability to support project activity in the Mid-Atlantic area from Philadelphia, Southern NJ, Delaware and Baltimore is a requirement
  • 12+ years' enterprise experience in the core competencies of routing, switching, WLAN, security (Cisco ASA Firewall) and VoIP (Cisco/Avaya) technologies within an enterprise environment
  • Project Network Engineer - Hands-on experience and approach to our Infrastructure projects, as well as 100% accountable for network availability
  • Ability to architect, design, procure, configure, install and upgrade new and or existing network infrastructure in support of enterprise applications and services
  • A successful candidate must be team oriented and be comfortable operating with minimal guidance and direction
  • Ability to work in a mostly Cisco Systems environment for enterprise data, voice, video and Wireless LAN resources
  • Responsible for overall design recommendations, procurement, configuration of Cisco route/switch, Wireless LAN, VoIP and Firewalls
  • Knowledge of small office MDF/IDF implementations is highly recommended. This would include ability to scope/estimate rack elevations, power, cooling, cabling/fiber standards for new builds or expansion
  • Ability to define project tasks with an assigned Project Manager with participation from the various Business Units we serve
  • On smaller projects or coordination efforts, have the ability to work independently, serving as a Project Coordinator or central point of contact
  • Ability to travel within the continental U.S. to support various projects sponsored by Business Units
  • Travel could be upwards of 50%+ of the candidate’s time
  • Candidate will serve as the single point of contact for Infrastructure projects, with the expectation they will provide design and cost estimate recommendations to the project and formalize requirements for the new or expansion of services
  • Adherence to Change and Communications Management processes and procedures
  • Adherence to regulatory, company, industry, federal and state standards (FERC, NERC CIP)
  • Hands on experience with the physical installation of network hardware (routers, switches, appliances, VoIP phones, Wireless LAN devices and UPS devices)
  • This includes the procurement, configuration, physical installation, testing, turn-up and cutover of new hardware
  • Hardware and Protocols - Cisco Routers (3900, 7200, 4451, 1000 ASRs); Cisco Switches (3800, 6500, Nexus, etc.); Cisco WAAS; VoIP; Carrier AVPN (AT&T or Verizon); BGP and EIGRP

Desired work experiences, hardware, disciplines, etc.:

Network architecture, design, configuration, administration, deployment, and use experience is required. Preferred vendor/model experience listed by priority:
Cisco Routers (3900, 7200, 4451, 1000 ASRs would be nice)
  • Strong EIGRP & BGP experience supporting inter-regional and DCI connectivity
  • QoS experience
  • MPLS experience
  • Multicast experience
  • Cisco Switches (3800, 6500, Nexus, etc.)
  • Strong experience supporting N2K, N5K, & N7K
  • Extensive spanning tree knowledge
  • Cisco WAAS
  • Caching, compression, traffic shaping knowledge and experience
  • Next-Gen WAVE 8500 and AppNav experience would be nice
  • Cisco/Avaya VoIP
  • Cisco Wireless LAN
  • Carrier AVPN (AT&T or Verizon)
  • MS AD

Security architecture, design, configuration, administration, deployment, and use experience is required. Preferred vendor/model experience listed by priority:
  • Cisco ASA (5510, 5550, & 5585 chassis)
  • Checkpoint
  • Cisco ISE (wireless corporate, guest, BYOD)
  • Netscaler & Cisco ACE Load-balancers (DMZ)
  • Cisco GSS
  • Cisco Anyconnect (Looking to replace and/or supplement our Citrix and Cisco VPN client w/RSA)
  • Knowledge of CIP and compliance
  • B2B, ipsec VPN (experience with ip sla would be nice)
