Project Specialist
Duration: 3 year contract
Location: Chicago, IL
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Project Specialist for one of our clients in the Chicago area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Job Description:
  • This role supports the overall management of projects by coordinating and consolidating information from various sources for reporting and metric tracking
  • The Project Specialist is knowledgeable on common project controls and project management processes and reports
  • With that knowledge, the Project Specialist leads initiatives and special tasks while collaborating effectively with various departments
  • Provides daily work direction to team members / co-workers while performing own job; may contribute to planning, work scheduling and minor decision-making regarding work methods. May provide feedback on team member/co-worker performance to immediate supervisor
  • Typically resolves complex problems or problems that do not have routine solutions
  • Operates under minimal supervision; May train or coach more junior staff

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare reports for analysis and review
  • Coordinate with project management, project controls team members, and other functions to consolidate, review, and present information for standard and ad hoc reporting requests
  • Consolidation of data includes extracting information from various sources and systems
  • Reporting information may include budget performance data and metric development for various functions involved in the project lifecycle, including engineering, contracts, and construction
  • Report preparation includes drafting variance analysis with potential mitigating options
  • Support change management process for projects
  • Coordinate with project management and other functions to identify, document, and track changes impacting annual, project, and program budgets
  • Prepare change review package and facilitate discussions as needed
  • Support risk management process for projects
  • Coordinate with project management and other functions to identify, document, and track risks
  • Perform as the lead person on special projects and assignments that arise during the course of the overall project
  • Support and/or coordinate specific high effort tasks, such as annual budget development and program forecast updates
  • Participate in program coordination meetings as required
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes
  • Follow up regarding action item progress and closure

  • Associates Degree required 
  • 3+ years experience supporting a project lifecycle and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, preferably in an engineering or construction environment
  • 3+ years experience working on a variety of tasks simultaneously, while demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders at various levels of the organization
  • 5+ years experience with various computer software, specifically Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Preferred experience with PowerPlan, PeopleSoft, SAP, Primavera P6, Work Manager (WMIS), Primavera Unifier, or Microsoft Access
