SAS Consultant for Analytics
Duration: 6-month contract
Location: Chicago, IL
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a SAS Consultant for Analytics for one of our clients in the Chicago area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Job Description:
  • Looking for a contractor to work on migration of SAS and SQL processes for ETL and reporting from legacy to new enterprise data warehouse (EDW)
  • This individual will be responsible for converting the set of complex SAS processes, including large-scale ones with dozens of sub-processes in specific logical flows, to new data sources
  • The candidate must be able to understand the existing processes with only an overview of the business purposes, the SAS codes and simple user documented outlines
  • This differs from more formal IT processes in that it will not include comprehensive architecture documents, requirements, and test cases
  • Since the candidate must be able to understand the goals and needs given the information available, this role requires a combination of high-level competencies in business understanding for credit policy, marketing and campaign reporting and analysis, as well as strong technical skills in SAS coding for automation, data manipulation, monitoring, and reporting
  • These competencies will also be applied to the new data sources, as the candidate must be able to understand the new data and how it compares to legacy data from both technical and business perspectives
  • They will use exploratory analysis and data documentation, but also must be able to envision the business understanding and application with limited guidance

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Apply professional coding standards and documentation to ensure efficient future process maintenance
  • Identify data integrity issues and work with internal team members to understand them and resolve them
  • Compare data from disparate sources to proactively identify opportunities and resolve issues with limited guidance from others
  • Be responsible for end-to-end process creation, including approach/design, coding, and internal testing
  • Develop end to end automated process for fairly complex performance tracking of Campaigns executed through different channels employing A/B testing
  • This process should be completely parametrized and executable on demand with the least amount of manual interventions
  • Develop process for evaluating Customer value extracting customer attributes from multiple different sources and then coding up previously defined and developed algorithms
  • Develop other process and report migrations from existing platform to new data platform, as defined by Advanced analytics and CRM teams
  • Use a combination of data models and exploratory analyses to understand data
  • Bring the best of class Industry experience and proven track record of building SAS / SQL based process for analytical purposes and employ them here
  • Bring Industry experience of SAS based report and process migrations due to the overhauling of enterprise data models and employ those best practices here

  • Qualifications in quantitative fields and 15+ years of hands on SAS / SQL coding experience at expert level
  • Excellent ability to transform raw data and analytical findings into actionable insights that meet stakeholder reporting requirements
  • Substantial experience in working with Analytical teams of heavy data driven service-based industries like Credit /Retail / Telecommunications
  • Advanced knowledge of RDMS, Billing, and ERP systems with experience in data extraction and manipulation from these systems using Oracle SQL and SAS
  • Prior experience in wireless industry or similar service providers preferred
  • Prior experience in working with IT, business and analytical teams for complex analytical process development using SAS / SQL
  • Experience supporting Sales and Marketing analysis and reporting
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to compare / contrast data or reports from different sources, identify gaps and decide /recommend the way forward
  • Can work independently with minimum supervision and engagement and proactively solve the issues 
  • Can assess when to seek out assistance and engage the right team / individuals for that
