Senior Software Engineer
Duration: 6 month contract
Location: Chicago, IL
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer for one of our clients in the Chicago area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • As appropriate, participate in project planning sessions with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Analysts and development team members to analyze business / technology requirements and outline the proposed technology solution
  • Lead, Plan and Deliver on DevOps pipeline commitments to increased quality and agility
  • Lead, Plan and Deliver on security concerns to ensure part of our continuous integration and delivery pipeline
  • Design using Object Oriented Analysis and Design frameworks such as Use Cases and Domain Models
  • Deliver design artifacts using Process (System Sequence and Interaction), Component, and Deployment Diagrams
  • Lead, Plan and deliver on development build commitments via Agile practices
  • Lead, Plan and Deliver on Security Scanning and Software Composition Analysis for DevSecOps
  • Lead, Plan and Deliver on container security, Micro-segmentation and its relationship to Remote Web Browsers
  • Lead, Plan and Deliver on Detection and Response security mechanics
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations
  • Design, Lead and Implement security centric quality control practices within the SDLC
  • Incorporate security requirement into design
  • Incorporate automated testing frameworks within software builds to ensure quality control practices
  • Provide input to information / data flow
  • Understand and comply to SDLC in all planning steps
  • Adhere to technology control policies throughout design, development and testing
  • Incorporate Corporate Architecture Standards into security and integration design specifications
  • Identify applicable system platform, components and dependencies
  • Document and detailed application specifications
  • Translate technical requirements into integration and security work product deliverables
  • Perform unit, system and integration testing and participate in capacity / performance testing of an application
  • Create / test prototypes
  • Complete assigned project deliverables within business / audit control requirements
  • Identify and document ongoing maintenance requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications
  • Perform system integration testing an analysis / report the results to pertinent teams
  • Adhere to technology disaster recovery procedures
  • Participate in project estimating activities
  • Establish  working relationship with business and AD project team members
  • Establish working relationships with IS Security, Compliance and Risk Management  team members
  • Manage individual workload and deliver to agreed upon project milestones
  • Demonstrate ability to work in team environment and help resolve issues
  • Communicate status / risks to manager regarding delivering solution on time
  • Attend training on knowledge management processes and tools
  • Share / leverage successful products, processes and best practices across technology
  • Maintain project documentation in a well-organized / easy to access document management system
  • Proactively support knowledge sharing by participating in communication processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by leveraging quality improvement methodologies

  • College degree, specialized training or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of technology work experience
  • Knowledge security integration design and development techniques
  • Knowledge of SDLC a plus
  • Software configuration management

Technical Knowledge:
Design, Build, Test and Implement the following Web and Mobile Application Development Technologies:
  • Mongo, Express, Angular, Node.js JavaScript technologies
  • JEE Technologies such as JBOSS X, WebLogic, Tomcat and Spring Enterprise
  • POJO Java Technologies such as Spring (Core, Security, Integration, AOP, MVC and Spring Boot).
  • .Net C# Web Technology Stack
  • JavaScript technologies such as Phabricator, Mocha, Karma, Sinon.js, JS Hint, Plato
  • SCM technologies such as: Git, GitHub, Bit Bucket, Subversion, IBM Clearcase
  • Build Technologies: Maven 2.x, 3.x, Jenkins, Ant
  • Design, Built, Test and Implement the following Security Technologies:
  • Authentication: OAuth 1, 2 | SAML 1, 2 | Liberty | Kerberous | Two Factor AuthN | HTTP Headers
  • Role Base Access Control within Java and JavaScript technologies
  • Audit: Log4j,  Splunk
  • Ecryption: TLS 1.1, 2 | SSL 3 (HTTPS)| Asymetrical vs Symetrical | AES256, Triple DES | PGP | SSH | SCP
  • Foundation Architecture Knowledge such as Architectural and Code Design Patterns
