Sr. Security NERC Consultant
Duration: 12 month contract
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Sr. Security NERC Consultant for one of our clients in the Milwaukee area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) reviews and validation reviews of CIP-related implementations (processes, procedures, internal controls) and associated evidence to ensure compliance with the NERC/CIP Standards
  • Develop interpretations of new CIP Standards using a variety of inputs such as regulatory guidance and industry benchmarking to produce unambiguous descriptions of compliance obligations for internal stakeholders to use as guidance for implementations
  • Provide enterprise coordination, project oversight, reporting, and issue resolution for implementation of future versions of the NERC CIP Standards
  • Prepare reports on the results of internal reviews of compliance evidence, including categorization of findings and recommendations to be addressed
  • Support implementations of technologies to augment Energy Groups’ NERC CIP Compliance Program
  • Complete assigned NERC CIP compliance control activities occurring monthly/quarterly/annual, and complete compliance support activities occurring daily/weekly
  • Provide support for NERC CIP compliance audits; including required data gathering and functioning as the physical security subject matter expert (SME)
  • Provide backup support for the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) NERC/CIP physical security compliance
  • Perform internal consulting with business area personnel to ensure that they understand, plan for, and implement compliance requirements
  • Provide training, change management, and communication support for CIP implementations and ongoing compliance activities
  • Provide security consulting services to establish procedure and install systems that reduce regulatory risk, risk to employees, and the risk of loss or damage to company property
  • Has an in-depth understanding of physical security technology and works closely with vendors and Information Technology (IT) in the design, development, installation and maintenance of various technologies that support the security program
  • Advise executive leadership of security risks and helps to shape Corporate Security strategy and practice
  • Maintain liaison with regulatory bodies, peer groups and law enforcement agencies
  • Act on changes in regulatory environment to ensure compliance

  • Minimum Bachelors' degree in a related field and two (2) or more years of utility, security, auditing, compliance, regulatory or related experience; OR six (6) or more years of utility, security, auditing, compliance, regulatory or related experience without a degree
  • Minimum of four (4) or more years of experience working with the NERC CIP standards and requirements
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in physical security project management that includes security technology, security system design and installation, documentation and reporting
  • Must possess strong writing, verbal communication and documentation skills and the ability to achieve and communicate with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work with a variety of personnel and be knowledgeable with both technical and business-oriented personnel
  • Ability to meet pressured deadlines, time constraints and periodic requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long-range program plans, set goals and objectives, and decisions on program priorities and analyze program effectiveness
