System Administrator
Duration: 4 month contract
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a System Administrator for one of our clients in the Schaumburg area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Job Description:
  • Design a monitoring system for a new product
  • Candidate will work with a team to design, test, and implement a monitoring solution for an isolated customer product
  • This product will be require a new networking design to integrate with the existing infrastructure, as well as the integrated network of the product itself
  • The ability to troubleshoot networking traffic, including switches, routers, and VPN tunnels is also needed
  • Update and maintain documentation for project tasks to ensure system reliability and reproducibility
  • Track all system engineering trouble reports and resolutions using provided helpdesk tracking system
  • Assist with engineering testing and evaluation on the software level
  • Recommend hardware and possible network related changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports network infrastructure related to the project
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • Designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, software applications, printers, servers, switches, cabling, and Internet service providers
  • Follows policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, license, use, support, security, and backup as outlined by Director of Information Technology; Consults with department managers to implement system solutions consistent with organizational objectives
  • Communicates standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data
  • Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems
  • Qualifications:
  • Two-year degree in Information Technology, 4-7 years of experience in supporting off-the-shelf applications
  • Some experience with Linux systems, Microsoft Windows Server, VMWare ESXi, is necessary
  • Supporting applications and understanding Networking industry best practices(Switches/routing) this person will need to be able to create, design and document New Networking
  • Supporting Off the shelf applications: 4-7 years
  • Support Computer Users:4-7 years
  • Software/Hardware set up and support: 4-7 years
  • Network infrastructure: 4-7 years
  • Required education: Associate
  • Must be able to identify problems within scope of responsibility and implement corrective action
  • Requires high level of analytical ability working with network and a variety of hardware and software configurations
  • Must have experience with Linux based systems, VMWare, plus a variety of hardware and software
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to provide superb communications with other team members
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality, standard of ethics and integrity
  • Develops workable implementation plans and communicates changes effectively; Prepares and supports those affected by change
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Works within approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures
  • Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals and includes appropriate people in decision-making process
