Systems Engineer
Duration: 9 month contract
Location: Rochester, MI
Overview: The CRS Group is currently looking for a Systems Engineer for one of our clients in the Rochester area. The CRS Group is a nationwide Staffing Firm who works primarily with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 corporations.
Job Description:
  • Understands all or most aspects of the hardware and software within the system
  • Contributes to IT project delivery by providing general and broad technical expertise throughout all phases of the development life cycle, including technical assessments, troubleshooting, design and engineering activities in support of complex software and hardware systems comprised of many technical components
  • Installs and configures application software, both off-the-shelf and developed in-house
  • For business domains and large IT programs, coordinates the technical engineering disciplines to ensure a holistic design and all aspects of the potential solution are well integrated and functioning in harmony
  • Leads the design and engineering of web services, middleware and web hosting technologies and implementations
  • Years of Experience 3-5.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all IT and automation/lab systems related initiatives at the site working with business function leads (manufacturing, lab, quality, EHS) to coordinate all IT systems activities
  • Coordination of systems and infrastructure change control (i.e., servers RFCs),  approving reboots, patches, etc.
  • Tracking, receiving, and coordinating installs of systems hardware
  • Escalating user incident tickets to appropriate support organization
  • Coordinating IT systems and  infrastructure projects with site manufacturing colleagues
  • Determining impact of site projects and site change controls on IT systems by performing impact assessment and coordinating any resultant IT mitigation activities
  • Supporting IT systems and automation/lab systems deployment
  • Installing, configuring, and supporting IT and automation/lab systems hardware and software owned by the site

  • Knowledge of Windows PC hardware and Windows OS (Win XP, Win 8, Win 10) to provide basic trouble shooting
  • General understanding of networking (switches, routers, firewalls, protocols, routing), telephony, and windows servers in order to provide rudementory, hands-on support with direction from appropriate off-site SMEs
  • General understanding of manufacturing automation systems and laboratory systems
  • Ability to install off the shelf hardware and software either independently or through direction of technical SME
  • Ability to plan and organize dependent technical activities and perform impact assessments
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot technical problems and learn on the fly
