Position: Technical Writer. Process Analyst, Documentation Specialist
Duration: 3-6 months
Location: Northbrook, IL 60062
I am looking for a Technical Writer / Process Analyst / Documentation Specialist with Technical documentation Knowledge Management, business process experience who can come in and help create artifacts that will help connect the strategy to the implementer. Looking for someone who has worked in the past with data flows and how to put together diagrams, swim lanes, workflows, light high-level architecture processes, data artifacts and sequencing these as well. Identifying and articulating strategy, filling in the missing the detail in terms of how to carry out this strategy. Would assist the implementer in the line of site to build the strategy. Data flow diagram, systems diagram.

Will not be creating or constructing the diagrams, but would be working with the project’s teams, architects, info analysts, product owners. You would be meeting with the business owners, taking the white boarded, interactive process, and then building out artifacts. You would then join the artifact to the library and so it can be socialized from there. There are a wide variety of artifacts. Nothing that would put the person in the position of solely solving the construction and implementation. This Technical Writer / Process Analyst will sit through meetings, interviewing individuals, take snapshots of whiteboards, translate through Visio or PowerPoint.

List of items that need to be produced; JIRA board, have the person work off this list.
Business Analysis to identify gaps across data domains, once the list is there, the asks could be added to artifacts.
I am looking for a Technical Writer with experience creating high-quality technical documents and diagrams to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner. They will work with product teams to ensure accuracy of product descriptions and assist in the dissemination of such information.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
  • Create easy-to-understand architecture guidelines and position statements
  • Produce high-quality documentation of Allstate’s Data / Analytic ecosystem
  • Work with different product teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of their products and the documentation requirements
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical documentation
  • Identify and implement best practices to ensure high quality, product documentation distributed in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Requirements:
  • Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
  • Experience working with data & analytics technologies
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Excellent written skills in English
  • Familiarity with agile product development methodology
  • At least 5 years of experience in Technical Writing
